TONY & ALICIA GWYNN FOUNDATION
The Tony and Alicia Gwynn Foundation was organized in San Diego, California in 1995 by Alicia Gwynn, wife of baseball Hall of Famer, Tony Gwynn. TAG Foundation, a support, not for profit, 501-3C charity is dedicated to help assist programs that enhance opportunities for youth to become healthy, educated, and productive citizens.
In fulfillment of its purpose, TAG Foundation is honored to have partnered with organizations such as the Jackie Robinson YMCA, San Diego Youth & Community Services, and Solutions, a college-preparatory agency. In 2001, under the auspices of the TAG Foundation, the Gwynn Curriculum Support Center was opened in Poway, California to provide affordable tutoring services to children in need of extra academic assistance. The Center also provided work-force preparedness and job placement assistance for local high school students. Later, the TAG Foundation transitioned as a sub foundation of the San Diego Foundation in order to better leverage larger funding opportunities. Since that time, TAG has streamlined its programs around two major areas of focus: character education and economic development, while continuing to fulfill Tony Gwynn's dream by supporting underserved children through scholarships to allow them access to play baseball in a positive, supportive environment.
Over course of existence, countless youth have benefited from TAG programs and services. TAG Foundation bears the ICB seal as an ICB certified enterprise having been recognized by ICB Productions, Inc. as a highly distinguished value-centered organization, whose programs and services are inclusive, engaging, and transformational.
